Positive Messages: Jay White E-mail #1

This is an e-mail that was sent last month from the Jay White campaign:

Hello, I am Jay White , candidate for county commissioner. Cabarrus County is my home and I want to do everything that I can to continue to make it a great place to live for my family and yours.

Although my campaign was successful in the Republican Primary, our work has just begun. We must continue to work hard to get elected in November. We must educate our citizens about the issues we face and the candidates running for office. I hope that through these emails over the next few weeks, you will get to know who I am, why I am running and what I hope to accomplish.



Most people don’t think they are personally affected by the issues facing our county as evidenced by the extremely low voter turnout during the Primary. Only about 8% of registered voters participated in the May election. If we sit back and do nothing, the current leadership will not be prepared for the future challenges we face. We must encourage others to get out and take an active role in electing our local government leaders.

Our county faces some real issues that must be addressed. Uncontrolled residential growth. Over crowded schools. Congested and unsafe roads. The tax burden on our senior citizens. All of which impact our economic outlook.

That is why my campaign is about managing residential growth to reduce its affect on our water supply, traffic and schools. Unless we want to be a residential community with high property taxes and poor infrastructure, we must manage our growth and encourage commercial development that will reduce our taxes and not over burden our current service.

My campaign is about making certain our children receive an education that prepares them to compete in the business and academic world. Currently, many of our schools are over full capacity. Our teachers need resources to be able to teach instead of managing numbers. I have a vested interest in our county’s education as a father of three children in the public schools and as an employer in this county.

My campaign is about restructuring local government in a way that we have local control of our roads in order to set the right priorities that will help ease traffic congestion. It is about developing a regional plan that allows for residential and business growth that will protect our local heritage. Our economy needs to be further developed and diversified. We need small to medium businesses. We need better paying jobs that can be filled by our former Cannon employees who are dedicated and hardworking. They deserve wages that will support their families.

My campaign is about taking care of our senior citizens who have supported this county for so long. We must find ways to ease their tax burden while continuing to provide services our citizens needs.

My campaign is about putting the citizens of Cabarrus County first. I have no personal agenda other than to make sure my children are proud of Cabarrus County and want to live, work and raise a family here.
